Amie Batalibasi’s BLACKBIRD to screen at Berlinale

Yellow writer and director Amie Batalibasi’s short film BLACKBIRD has been selected to screen at the 69th Berlinale International Film Festival.

One of 6 Australian projects to be chosen, BLACKBIRD follows Solomon Islander siblings Kiko and Rosa as they struggle to survive labouring on a Queensland sugar plantation in the 1800’s. The film is screening as a part of the NATIVe program which is dedicated to cinematic storytelling of indigenous peoples from around the world.

Amie will also take part in a panel discussion about climate change and filmmaking. The festival runs from the 7th – 17th of February 2019.
