Official London Theatre report: “The Young Vic has extended the run of its forthcoming production of A Streetcar Named Desire by two weeks due to phenomenal public demand to catch the Gillian Anderson-led drama.

Officially the fastest-selling show of all time for the acclaimed venue, Benedict Andrews’ much-anticipated take on the Tennessee Williams classic will now run until 19 September, with extra tickets also released for every performance during the run.

Andrews’ production will arrive at the Young Vic from 23 July and follows his hugely successful 2012 production of another classic drama for the venue, Three Sisters.”

“I don’t want realism. I want magic!”

Gillian Anderson is Blanche DuBois, Ben Foster is Stanley and Vanessa Kirby is Stella in Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece.

As Blanche’s fragile world crumbles, she turns to her sister Stella for solace – but her downward spiral brings her face to face with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski. Visionary director Benedict Andrews returns to the Young Vic following his Critics’ Circle Award-winning Three Sisters.
