Benedict Andrews’ LA BOHEME opened last month in London. An adaptation of Puccini’s classic opera, Benedict’s production is a compelling contemporary take on the timeless tale of friendship between a gang of misfits, and of a passionate first love marred by tragedy. LA BOHEME has been praised by critics, with George Hall of The Stage giving the production four stars, commending its “strong performances and… stylish conductor”, and writing that “this is a La Boheme for our times, and [it] works extremely well on that level”.

Fiona Maddocks of The Guardian also praised the emotional intensity of the final tragic scene, saying, “this great work… broke free and tugged at the heart”, and William Hartson of The Express commended the production’s “power and intensity”. Barry Milington of The Evening Standard has also praised the “warmth and exhilaration” evident in Benedict’s LA BOHEME.

LA BOHEME plays at the London Coliseum until 26th November. Tickets are available on the English National Opera website.
