Foxtel releases UPRIGHT to critical acclaim

Rave reviews have been coming in for Foxtel’s recently released TV series UPRIGHT.  The 8 part  dramedy series (created by Chris Taylor, directed by Matthew Saville and starring Tim Minchin) follows the journey of  musician on the road between Sydney and Perth to return home to his terminally sick mother.

The Guardian singles out Yellow’s Katie Milwright stating that  “The talented cinematographer Katie Milwright (who recently shot GurrumulCeleste and a couple of episodes of Tidelands) conjures a slick but weathered look: a bit sticky, a bit hot, a bit dusty, sans the cliche hot-and-humid Australian aesthetic.”

What critics have been saying:

“Upright is a balancing act itself, loose yet structured, sad but funny, touching lightly on heavy matters, taking naturally to the road movie format, moving along easily. The photography alone, by Katie Milwright, is consistently a delight, properly filmic. The hot and dusty Outback seems a particularly good place to spend time this December.” Evening Standard

“A bold and sharp re-invention with the irreverence of Fleabag, the colourful beating heart of Parks and Recreation and the backdrop of Breaking Bad, Upright is something of an odd, misshapen beast of a comedy – and is all the better for it “ Metro UK

“★★★★”  The Guardian

“It’s great to see another show making creative use of our landscapes: the dry interior is blasted one moment, enchanted the next. And the whole thing is both quintessentially Australian and deliciously unexpected.” ★★★★  Sydney Morning Herald

You can watch UPRIGHT on Fox Showcase or Stream it on Foxtel, in the UK it airs on Sky Atlantic.
