Anglea Betzien’s THE DARK ROOM plays at STCSA

Angela Betzien’s THE DARK ROOM will play at the State Theatre Company of South Australia from 12 to 28 September. The production will be directed by David Mealor for the Holden Street Theatres.

Peter Burdon of the Advertiser wrote that “when THE DARK ROOM played in Sydney a couple of years ago, it quickly became the talk of the town with extended seasons and chatter in the bar. Now in a new production from Flying Penguin and director David Mealor we get to see why…  The brilliant script from Angela Betzien and Mealor’s meticulous direction drive the narrative with a relentlessness that cranks ups the tension time and time again, and in a rare feat places the audience in a situation where they don’t know what’s going to happen next.”

THE DARK ROOM won the Sydney Theatre Award for Best New Australian work when it was produced at Belvoir in 2011.
