GURRUMUL Shortlisted for AACTA Award
GURRUMUL has been shortlisted, alongside ten other documentaries for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Feature Length Documentary.
Katie Milwright lent her talents as one of four Directors of Photography to create the films unique and stunning visual landscape.
Each of the ten nominated documentaries will be screened at AFTRS in Sydney, at Cinema Nova in Melbourne and at Griffith Film School in Brisbane as part of a stand alone Docs Fest during the first week of October.
Of GURRUMUL’s inclusion on the shortlist, director Paul Damien Williams told IF that “It’s great news. It’s been a really wonderful year for Australian features full stop and particularly documentaries; it’s wonderful to see this. Look at the shortlist, there’s some fantastic films there.”
GURRUMUL explores the life of the recently passed Indigenous musician Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. It has screened at MIFF, Berlinale and Hotdocs with resoundingly positive reviews.
