Betzien’s THE HANGING shortlisted for Nick Enright Prize

Angela Betzien‘s play THE HANGING is one of four works shortlisted for The Nick Enright Prize for Playwriting. The prize worth $30,000 is open to plays or a work of music drama first produced in Australia between 1 October 2015 and 30 September 2016.

THE HANGING is based on Picnic at Hanging Rock had its debut at Sydney Theatre Company on 28th July 2016 for a 6 week run. Daily Review‘s Ben Neutze described it as:’One of the most exciting things to happen in Australian playwriting in recent years.’

The winner will be announced on May 22 along with other categories of the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.
