Gideon Obarzanek to choreograph a new work for Sydney Dance Company

Choreographer Gideon Obarzanek will create a new work for the Sydney Dance Company for their 2014 season. The work will be part of a triple bill called INTERPLAY, which will also feature a piece by choreographer Jacopo Godani and a new one from artistic director Rafael Bonachela.

INTERPLAY will debut in March in Sydney before moving to Canberra then Melbourne, where Sydney Dance Company will take a five-year residency in Melbourne Theatre Company’s Sumner Theatre.

In an interview with The Australian, Rafael said “what excites me about Gideon’s work is the theatricality; Sydney Dance Company dancers haven’t done that.”
