Andrew Kavanagh is a writer, director and composer.

In 2017 Andrew directed and produced VICE Australia’s flagship series: AUSTRALIANA, broadcast on SBS Viceland.

Andrew’s short film credits include writing and directing Screen Australia funded short WELCOME HOME ALLEN, which screened at Sydney, Melbourne, Clermont-Ferrand and Rotterdam International Film Festivals among others, and won Best Film at the St Kilda Film Festival and Best International Short at the Guanajuato IFF. His short film trilogy SHORT COLLISIONS screened at prestigious festivals in Rotterdam, Locarno and Clermont Ferrand, picking up numerous awards including the Emerging Filmmaker prize at Melbourne International Film Festival and the Grand Prix at the Gijon IFF.

Andrew graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with short film AT THE FORMAL, which screened at or won awards at more than 60 festivals, including Locarno, Rotterdam, AFI Fest, Los Angeles IFF and Clermont Ferrand.

Andrew’s accolades include the Qantas Spirit of Youth Award for Film and Video which involved a one year mentorship with Hollywood director, Robert Luketic (LEGALLY BLONDE, 21, MONSTER IN LAW).
