Rita Carmody

Designers

Rita Carmody is a Sydney-based costume designer for film and television.

Rita is currently serving as Costume Designer on COLIN FROM ACCOUNTS series 2. Prior to this, she wrapped up season two of the Netflix/Fremantle smash hit HEARTBREAK HIGH, for which she won the AACTA Award for Best Costume Design for her work on the first series. She also costumed rom-com FIVE BLIND DATES for Amazon Pictures and Goalpost, the ABC reboot of classic Australian sitcom MOTHER AND SON and the ABC comedy series PREPPERS starring Nakkiah Lui, Jack Charles and Yael Stone and won an AACTA award for its first season.

In addition to the above, Rita has costume designed two season of Stan’s THE OTHER GUY, which was nominated or won for four awards, including the AACTA award for Best Comedy Series. She was costume designer for THE JUSTINE CLARKE SHOW and HERE COME THE HABIBS!, which was nominated for a Logie for Most Popular Comedy.

Rita’s television work includes costume designing for children’s show HARDBALL for ABC, which won two International Emmy Kids Awards for Best Kids’ Series and Best Live Action Kids’ Series. It was also nominated for an AACTA Award for Best Children’s Program, and a SPA Award for Children’s Series Production of the Year.

Her feature film costume designer credits include LONG STORY SHORT, LUNACY and HEARTS AND BONES starring Hugo Weaving, which was nominated for or won over 40 local and international film awards, over 10 of which were for Best Film.

In addition to her work for film and television, she has styled campaigns for some of Australia’s most recognizable brands, including McDonald’s and Telstra, as well as styling for the opening ceremony of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.

Rita is a 2007 NIDA design graduate and she is a member of AACTA and the APDG.
