MEL PAGE
Mel Page is an award winning set and costume designer working across theatre, opera & film.
As costume designer her work for opera includes Innocence and Tristan and Isolde for Festival w Aix-en-Provence; The Greek Passion, Lear and Médée for Salzburg Festival; Die Tote Stadt and The Devils of Loudun for Bayerische Staatsoper; Pelléas and Mélisande for Den Norse Opera and Ballet. Innocence has been co-produced and presented at The Metropolitan Opera, NYC; The Royal Opera, London, Finland Opera, Dutch National Opera, San Francisco Opera and Adelaide Festival. Medee has been presented by Opera Narodowa in Poland.
Costume designs for theatre include Phaedra for the National Theatre, London, Kingdom of the Sun at Burgtheater, Engel in America and Drei Schwestern for Theater Basel; Les Trois Soeurs for L’Odeon; On the Beach, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Mary Stuart, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Baal and Happy Days for Sydney Theatre Company; Opening Night, Stop Girl, Jasper Jones, Ivanov, Kill the Messenger, Seventeen, The Glass Menagerie, A Christmas Carol, Hamlet, Angels in America, Strange Interlude, The Promise,and Elektra/Orestes for the Belvoir; The Government Inspector and La Pompeii for Malthouse Theatre.
As set and costume designer, her work for theatre includes Koreaboo for Griffin Theatre, Spare Room, A Raisin in the Sun and Lethal Indifference for Sydney Theatre Company; Back at the Dojo, A Taste of Honey, An Enemy of the People, Small and Tired and Medea for Belvoir; Minnie and Liraz and The Apocalypse Bear Trilogy for Melbourne Theatre Company; Night Maybe for Theatreworks and internationally Medea for Theater Basel.
Dance includes Complexity of Belonging and Depth of Field for Chunky Move. Mel production and costume designed the web series ONE STEP CLOSER TO HOME and production designed short films GREAT ACTS OF KINDNESS and HOLLOW BONES. Mel also worked in the Art Department on feature films THE TENDERHOOK and MY YEAR WITHOUT SEX. In 2016, Mel Page was the recipient of the George Fairfax Memorial Award.
