Sarah Scheller is a screenwriter and director.

Her first ever television script, THE LETDOWN, aired on the ABC as part of the Comedy Showroom series and went on to win the AACTA Award in 2016 for Best Television Screenplay.

THE LETDOWN was commissioned for two series of ABC-TV comedy series with Netflix co-commissioning the second series. The series has been very popular globally on Netflix and been nominated for and won multiple awards, including Best Comedy Program at the 2019 AACTA Awards.  Sarah was nominated for Best Direction in a Television Drama or Comedy at the 2019 AACTA awards for her work on the series.

Sarah is currently working on an original script for FX with Sharon Horgan Executive Producing through her company Merman. Sarah is also working with Endemol Shine Australia on a literary adaptation and with Bruna Papandrea and Made Up Stories on an original television series. She is also writing an episode of an anthology series for Margot Robbie’s company Lucky Chap.

Previously screenwriting work includes contributions to the ABC’s THE ELEGANT GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO KNIFE FIGHTING and Stan’s NO ACTIVITY.

Sarah started her career in public relations and then fashion journalism. As a freelance writer, she has written for the Sydney Morning Herald, Harper’s Bazaar and The Guardian.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts/Communications (Journalism).
