Australian costume designer Jennifer Irwin’s career spans over 30 years, designing for some of Australia’s most iconic films, as well as multiple operas, dramas, dance performances and ballets. Jenny has costume designed over 30 Bangarra Dance Theatre productions; collaborating, building and creating their costume language to help form Australia’s most important cultural company.

Her screen credits include costume design on feature film SPEAR for which she was nominated for an AACTA award, and costume cutting for STEALTH, THE MATRIX RELOADED, MOULIN ROUGE!, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE II, RED PLANET, THE MATRIX, ROMEO AND JULIET and STRICTLY BALLROOM.

Jennifer designed costumes for the international box office sensation DIRTY DANCING THE MUSICAL, still playing to packed audiences and breaking all pre box office records of any show ever staged in London’s West End.

Her work includes over 85 ballets as well as some of the largest scale productions ever staged in Australia, including the opening and closing ceremonies for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the official ceremony marking the Centenary of Australian Federation in 2001.

Her work has been staged in over 60 countries, over 350 cities, and in venues such as the Lincoln Centre NYC, City Centre NYC, Brooklyn Academy of Music NYC, The Kennedy Centre Washington, The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden London, Command performances at the Royal Palace Madrid and many at the Sydney Opera House. Her productions have been nominated for and / or won over 15 awards for best costume design.
