Elise McCredie is an award-winning director and screenwriter for film; and has written and directed extensively for television. Elise has been nominated for three AWGIEs (winning one).

Most recently, Elise wrote and co-created the SBS series SUNSHINE produced by Essential Media, which won an AWGIE in 2018 for best telemovie / miniseries under four hours; and wrote and co-created new Matchbox TV series STATELESS, with Tony Ayres and Cate Blanchett. She wrote seasons 1 and 2 of the AACTA and Emmy winning ABC/Matchbox series NOWHERE BOYS, as well as the novelisation of the latter series for Hardie Grant Egmont Publishers.

Elise is currently working on an original crime mystery series OVERFLOW, produced by Claudia Karvan, and the new season of JACK IRISH.

Elise’s debut feature film STRANGE FITS OF PASSION, which she wrote and directed, was selected for Critics Week at Cannes Film Festival. It received 3 AFI nominations, an if nomination, an AWGIE nomination and was nominated for the Bronze Horse at The Stockholm Film Festival. More recently, Elise co-wrote the feature film RIDE LIKE A GIRL with Andrew Knight, directed by Rachel Griffiths.

Elise has two features in development: DYSMORPHIA, produced by Andrew Knight, and MRS CAREY’S CONCERT, with Matchbox Pictures.

For the past twenty years Elise has worked as an actor, most recently appearing in THE BROKEN SHORE, NOWHERE BOYS and Tim Winton’s THE TURNING.
