Kylie Trounson
WritersKylie Trounson is a playwright, actor and lawyer. Kylie is currently writer in residence and has a major commission at the Melbourne Theatre Company for a new play.
Kylie’s latest work HAPPY ENDING was commissioned by MTC and will be produced in 2020. Kylie’s previous play THE WAITING ROOM premiered at Melbourne Theatre Company in 2015 starring Belinda McClory and William McInnes. Kylie’s unique take on the story of the development of world-leading IVF technology in Melbourne was specially focused on her father, Alan Trounson’s role in the wider scientific community’s race to achieve the first live birth using assisted reproductive technology.
THE WAITING ROOM was developed through the Sydney Theatre Company’s Rough Draft program and the Melbourne Theatre Company’s Cybec Electric Play Reading series.

Kylie was writer-in-residence for Red Stitch Actors Theatre between 2010 and 2011. During her time there she wrote MERMAN which was shortlisted for the 2011 Patrick White Playwright’s Award.
Kylie studied playwriting with Bernard Kops in London, at The New Play Institute in San Francisco and the Queensland University of Technology. She also trained in acting at the Method Studio London and the National Theatre Drama School in Melbourne and studied law at the University of Melbourne.
As an actor, Kylie has appeared in the feature films NOISE and EXIT; television series including PLEASE LIKE ME, TANGLE, CITY HOMICIDE, UNDERBELLY and NEIGHBOURS; and on stage in various theatre productions. Kylie has also worked as a litigation lawyer and in the community legal sector.
