Nick Coyle is a television writer and theatre-maker renowned for his solo shows which he has toured around the world. Nick created, wrote, directed and starred in webseries SARAHS CHANNEL which played at Comicon in 2019.

Nick has written eight episodes of television series BUMP across two seasons and returns for more episodes in Series 5, he wrote on Netflix’s WELLMANIA, QUEERSTRALIA for the ABC and ITS FINE, IM FINE for SBS On Demand. His play, THE FEATHER IN THE WEB, had its world premiere at Griffin Theatre Company in 2018 and was published by Currency Press and nominated for a NSW Premier’s Literary Award.

His regular solo shows at Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival created a cult-like following for his work. QUEEN OF WOLVES previewed at Sydney’s 107 Projects and Giant dwarf before playing at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a sold out season at The Soho Theatre in London afterwards.

Previous solo shows; NICK COYLE’S GUIDED MEDITATION played at Edinburgh Fringe, Giant Dwarf in Sydney, Det Andre Teatret in Norway, The Invisible Dot in London and Union Hall in New York in 2016; DOUBLE TRIBUTE had sell-out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as in Sydney and Melbourne and at The Invisible Dot in London; BLUE WIZARD was awarded the 2013 FBi SMAC (Sydney Music, Arts and Culture) Award for Best On Stage by FBi Radio, and was re-staged at Belvoir St Theatre in association with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in 2015. Nick’s first solo show, the medieval comedy ME PREGNANT! was awarded the Powerhouse Outstanding Comedy Award at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2011.

Nick’s play for children, UH OH TONY, premiered at the Bondi Pavilion in 2013 and toured regional NSW in 2014 through Critical Stages. Previously Nick wrote and directed the plays KITTENBONE BRIDGE at Sydney Theatre Company, HAMMERHEAD (IS DEAD) at Griffin Theatre Company, ROMMY at the Old Fitz in Sydney, and THE OCTOBER SAPPHIRE at FringeNYC. He recorded his radio play BATFEET at 107 Projects in front of a live audience for FBi Radio. Nick created and co-hosted the radio show VERSUS on FBi radio for three years.

Nick founded comedy group Pig Island with Claudia O’Doherty and Charlie Garber in the 2007 and they garnered critical and audience acclaim for their shows. They won the Golden Gibbo at the MICF in 2007. Their shows SIMPLY FANCY and THE GLASS BOAT remain vivid in the memories of those that saw them.
