Karen Colston
Senior AgentKaren is a graduate of the Q Theatre Drama School and of the University of NSW where she received a BA in Theatre and French. She has worked in the arts as an actor, producer, writer, and agent and has travelled extensively, living at different times in the UK, and the US.
During her career Karen has walked the red carpet at Cannes as lead actor in Jane Campion’s first feature film SWEETIE; produced the short film BEACH STORY which aired on SBS TV and screened at the Edinburgh Film Festival; produced, wrote and directed the short film THE STATION from which she was selected for the Melbourne International Film Festival Accelerator Program; produced the ABC iView web-series SARAH’S CHANNEL for Yellow Creative Management; and wrote the story for the ABC Kids musical album, JAZ & THE BOOK OF WONDERS.
Karen worked at Australian Literary Management where she read hundreds of book submissions as well as handling their book to screen negotiations. She was also assistant to producer Jan Chapman at Jan Chapmen Films for eight years where she learnt the fundamentals of creative film producing.
Karen is now a Senior Agent at Yellow Creative Management where she has been for ten years. She brings her experience and passion for the industry and the creative process into her role, where she is inspired on a daily basis by the work that Yellow clients create.
