“Adornetto's dialogue feels fresh and real... If it were not for young adult readers like her, the YA boom never would have happened and publishing would be much gloomier.” New York Times Book Review
Alexandra Adornetto is a two-time New York Times bestselling Australian novelist and screenwriter whose work in Young Adult fiction and screen drama delves into fantasy, romance, and the paranormal.
She began her writing career at thirteen when her debut novel THE SHADOW THIEF was selected from the HarperCollins slush pile. It became the first in THE STRANGEST ADVENTURES trilogy, a children’s fantasy series inspired by J.M. Barrie, Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton.
Her international breakthrough came with THE HALO TRILOGY, marking her U.S. debut. HALO and its sequel HADES both reached The New York Times Best Seller list within a week of publication and have been translated into over twenty-five languages. This was followed by GHOST HOUSE and GHOST HOUR, published by Harlequin, reflecting her ongoing interest in the paranormal.
As a screenwriter, Alexandra’s first comedy drama feature script SUNNY & THE KING was shortlisted for the Monte Miller award, received a special mention and was showcased in the AWG Pathways.
Alexandra’s eight-part feminist reimagining of Peter Pan, HOOKED, drew Marisol Adler as the attached director, and secured her representation with The Gersh Agency in Los Angeles. Alexandra also worked with Village Roadshow Entertainment Group as lead writer on a franchise exploring the lives of infamous female criminals.
Alexandra continues to develop original projects for literary, film and television, including a horror feature, crime drama, dystopian thriller and many more.
