Natasha Henry is a Sydney-based Papua New Guinean screenwriter with a versatile body of work, from crime thriller to dramedy. Natasha’s thriller and crime-drama work is lean and propulsive, often informed by her experience and expertise in culturally specific storytelling, while her comedy writing is witty, intelligent and perceptive. Natasha is currently developing an original crime thriller series with Matchbox, an original art museum dramedy series for which she which has received Screen Australia Generate funding, and a folk crime thriller feature.
Natasha has worked closely with Matchbox Pictures, working as a Development Producer across a variety of projects, formats, and genres from early development through to production, before going on to write and script edit on the Matchbox/Stan 6 x one-hour crime drama series CRITICAL INCIDENT. Natasha was mentored by U.S production company Hello Sunshine as part of the Australians in Film Untapped program, of which she was one of six selected writers. Natasha’s award-winning short film PASIFIKA DRIFT was nominated for an AWGIE Award and premiered at SXSW Sydney.
Natasha is an ardent advocate for stories from the Pacific Islands region and for telling diverse, female driven stories. Natasha holds a Masters in Screenwriting from AFTRS and is undertaking her PhD in best practice cultural script development.
