Amy’s recent feature, FIRST LIGHT (dir. James J. Robinson), was praised for its "stunning, painterly shots" by The Australian and called "visually exquisite" by The Reel Bits. Amy was named one of IF Magazine's 2025 Rising Talent cinematographers.

Amy Dellar is an award-winning cinematographer with an insatiable love for the craft of storytelling. Based in Melbourne, Australia, she has shot four feature films, soon to embark on her fifth, dozens of short films, and most recently an episode of Easy Tiger’s CAPER CREW.

Her most recent feature, FIRST LIGHT (dir. James J. Robinson), was praised for its “stunning, painterly shots” by The Australian and described as “visually exquisite” by The Reel Bits. The film screened at MIFF, IFFR, Sydney Film Festival, Glasgow and Marrakech, and was further noted for its “masterful, painterly tableaux” (Sydney Film Festival) and “handsome, moody framing” (The Film Verdict).

In 2019, she won Best Cinematography at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival for the short film Jupiter, and was recently named one of IF Magazine’s 2025 Rising Talent cinematographers.

Amy believes that by listening closely to the story, the cinematography reveals itself. Her practice is driven by excavating meaning from each script and translating that into a distinctive visual language, while fostering inclusive, collaborative camera departments.
