“A work of art distinct for its specificity, one that feels inimitable and therefore completely evanescent.” 5-star review of SISTREN by Suzy Goes Sees

Iolanthe is an Afro-Caribbean/Australian writer, actor, model and self-proclaimed socialite . Raised between Sydney, Australia and Brixton, UK, with a Norwegian-German parent, Iolanthe’s work explores culture, identity and connection and what these ideas represent in post-digital society. In life and work, Iolanthe examines her role in society, power dynamics and political tensions that surround her daily life, leaning into her distinct brand of culturally relevant humour and intentionally aesthetic storytelling.

Iolanthe is the creator and writer of SISTREN, her debut play at the Australian Playwrights Transform ‘Untold Stories’ residency, which premiered in Sydney and sold out before opening night. SISTREN went on to win the 2025 Time Out Award for Best Play, received 8 nominations at the Sydney Theatre Awards this year, with Iolanthe taking home Best Independent Production and Best Newcomer and has established Iolanthe as an exciting new voice in Australian theatre. The work returns to the Sydney mainstage this April/May with Griffin Theatre Company and is currently being adapted for television.

Iolanthe graduated from NIDA with a BFA Acting where she received the Lesley Walford AM Award for Excellence and later studied method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. Her Australian mainstage debut occurred while still at NIDA, appearing as Kara in the acclaimed touring production of SEVEN METHODS OF KILLING KYLIE JENNER (co-directed by Shari Sebbens and Zindzi Okenyo).
